Hiking Up To Nordic Skate On Tumbledown Pond

The first bodies of water to freeze in Maine are the mountain ponds. Ever since I got into skating I've always wanted to skate on Tumbledown Pond, and a cold but snowless December finally made for the perfect conditions! We hiked up the Brook Trail on Tumbledown Mountain, and carried our nordic skates in our pack. As for the ice conditions — they couldn't have been better! While skating conditions on these remote ponds are fleeting, they are extremely special. Subscribe to our channel so you don’t miss any videos!
