Daytrip to Evan's Notch
A September hike in the Western Mountains of Maine, this Daytrip was about making the most of this beautiful month.
Daytrip Around Portland & Peaks Island
Looking for fun things to do around Portland? Join us for a Daytrip over to Peaks Island where we bike around, get wood fired pizza, and go to a Sea Dogs Game.
Daytrip Down the Sheepscot River
The Sheepscot River has been an annual favorite for as long as I can remember — floating down the river with family, friends, and even unfamiliar faces while the flow allows us. In my experience, this river offers a great balance of swift water sections, where focus and communication is key, mixed with lazier bits to converse and have a snack.
Daytrip to Camden Snow Bowl
Winter is filled with great COVID-19 safe activities -- like downhill skiing. After we got some snow here in Maine, we decided to visit Camden Snow Bowl for some mid-week turns. Join us for a daytrip as we make our way up the coast, picking up breakfast at Dutch's, lunch from Sheepscott General Store, and dinner from Long Grain!
Deciduous Studio
Danny Gugger was the first designer we worked with at Maine the Way. We met with him when all of our ideas were still in our head. He had worked on other independent publications before and we were drawn to the breathy design he brought to the pages — allowing the stories space to be savored in a style that would hold the test of time. A lot of the skeleton we still use today is all thanks to Danny’s expertise.
Since working with us on Issue 01: Winter, he moved to Berlin, traveled around Europe, and ultimately decided that Maine was where he wanted to be. We’re so excited to have him back in our community and look forward to seeing his designs come to life around town.
We recently caught up with him to hear about some of the projects he’s worked on, the influence design has on small businesses, and, most of all, what Maine means to him and his process.
Winter Escape
If we’ve learned one thing about living in Maine, it’s that you have to take advantage of the seasons—do what’s good when it’s good. When Visit Maine approached us about a Winter Escape, we couldn’t contain our excitement to share what it is that we love so much about Maine and all that it has to offer — and how to navigate it safely with Covid-19. The itinerary was packed with adventures and enough delicious meals to take our breath away. For this trip, we visited the Bethel, Biddeford, and Portland area, ensuring safety along the way.
Sailing Cita
There’s a lot to learn from our oceans. From seaworthy adventures to the aquaculture industry, the Atlantic fuels much of our world here in Maine. We’re lucky that these waters run deep and the wafts of salty air linger in the coastal towns, giving Maine a certain essence we all know and love.
